That's rather incredible considering the same core/thread count." Great analysis Michael Larabel https://lnkd.in/gPYzGd9n #amd #epyc #turin

Everyone is building: marketplaces directories local apps But what’s missing is… 👉 the system underneath everything That’s what this is about: TheLocalInternet.com TheLocalPlatform.com TheLocalInformation.com TheLocalGraph.com TheLocalIdentity.com TheLocalCategories.com TheLocalReviews.com TheLocalFlow.com Not separate products. One connected system From: structure → to relationships → to real-time flow → to trust → to action Local doesn’t need another app. It needs: infrastructure #TheLocalInternet #Infrastructure #LocalTech #FutureOfSearch #StartupVision

For ChromeOS, FydeOS, and other Chromium-based system users, there's a powerful yet often overlooked way to access system details, troubleshoot issues, and adjust settings—without touching the command line. By entering simple chrome:// commands into your browser, you can view diagnostics, check hardware and software info, and fine-tune performance across ChromeOS, Windows, Linux, and more. In my latest article, I share a practical guide to the most useful commands, along with tips for making them work across different operating systems. These techniques are especially valuable when assisting users who are less comfortable with terminal commands. Read the full piece here: #ChromeOS #TechTips #ITSupport #Productivity

A very niche new blog post about a little issue that has arisen with one of the most quirky and extraordinarily light Linux distros. Since early January an update caused a problem with the conky system monitor, a thing that a lot of us Linux-ers like to have. I have found a solution to the problem which arises from a syntax miss-match in .conkyrc and conky-config. The transparency effect on the conky DT display is now also dependent on the picom compiler module. It is much more lightweight than the previous method. Full explanation on my blog https://lnkd.in/ePHYmA93

If you're at #AutoCon4, you'll run into the nice folks at NetBox Labs. Open source NetBox is a popular source of truth for your network, tracking all sorts of information about your devices, IP subnets, VLANs, and great deal more. NetBox Labs not only supports NetBox, but also offers a commercial variant. CEO Kris Beevers briefed me and Andrew Conry-Murray about the latest with NetBox, as there's been lots of activity with features & capabilities added or under development. 1️⃣ NetBox Copilot. Ask NetBox in plain English anything you'd like to know about your network. If you're an engineer, the idea is to speed things up for you--to make you more efficient. And it's available to everyone for free (at least up to a usage limit, because tokens cost $). https://lnkd.in/gjcfUTvD 2️⃣ NetBox MCP server. Make it easier for you or an AI agent to interact with NetBox data. Use the MCP server and an appropriate agent to get a task done without you having to write the code to do it. https://lnkd.in/gtRD7nev 3️⃣ NetBox Discovery. This does what you think it does if you're familiar with network management and observability tools. Rather than you having to populate the NetBox device database by hand, Discovery will do the heavy lifting for you. https://lnkd.in/gvC5SWig 4️⃣ NetBox Observability. If you're looking for a modern alternative to the network management products you've been using for years and years, give this a look. The Observability product is in its early days, so give it a spin (there will be both free and commercial versions) and provide feedback to make it what you want it to be. https://lnkd.in/gW438yik I'll see you at #AutoCon4 this week!

Why PDF DRM Is Critical for Selling Digital Content in Education and Online Training https://drm.verypdf.com/ If you're selling PDFs or eLearning content, here's why you absolutely need PDF DRM to stop piracy and protect your income. Mondays used to be brutal… Picture this. You're sipping cold coffee, scrolling through another torrent site someone emailed you about—your digital course, up for free again. That course you spent months creating. Gone. Leaked. The payment notifications stopped rolling in. The support emails kept flooding your inbox. You know the culprit: No real DRM protection. Just a weak password and a prayer. I’ve been there. If you're selling any kind of eLearning product—PDF guides, videos, audio lectures—this kind of headache is way too common. That’s when I started hunting for something real. Something that could actually stop piracy. And that’s how I found VeryPDF Easy DRM Protector. The Day I Took My Digital Products Seriously I wasn’t looking for bells and whistles. I wanted one thing: keep my content locked down unless I say otherwise. After testing a bunch of overpriced, overly complicated tools (most of which required the user to download clunky software), I came across VeryPDF Easy DRM Protector. Here’s why it immediately stood out: * It supports PDFs, videos, audio, photos—you name it. * The encryption is AES-level secure—the same stuff used for classified government docs. * The setup? Stupid simple. * No tech drama. No extra installations for users. It just works. And for once, I felt like my digital products weren’t just published—they were protected. What Makes This DRM Tool So Different? Let’s break this down from a practical standpoint. Here’s what made VeryPDF Easy DRM Protector an instant yes for me: 🔒 Real Encryption, Not Just Passwords Forget simple PDF passwords. They’re basically jokes—any semi-competent teen can crack them with free tools. Easy DRM Protector uses AES encryption. That's the same encryption used for top-secret military files. What that means for you: * Files are fully locked. * Only authorised users with the correct playback key can access the content. * Zero risk of someone forwarding your content to their buddy or dumping it online. 💻 Multiple Device Bindings This is one of my favourite features. You can choose how tightly locked down your content is. Options include: * Non-PC binding (password works on any device) * PC-binding (password tied to one specific machine) * USB-binding (only plays from an authorised USB stick) * CD/DVD-binding * Demo mode (tease the content, no password needed) I went with PC-binding for all my paid courses. Each buyer gets a unique key that only works on their personal computer. No sharing. No forwarding. No nonsense.

Dan Goodin of Ars Technica highlights a major Google privacy flaw that isn't easy to fix. Android users can't fully extricate Gemini accessing their data from their devices -- despite a setting for "Gemini Apps Activity" that has a putative and misleading on/off button -- if you don't want this to happen, you need to uninstall Gemini -- which isn't easy to do either. Double fail for Google! https://lnkd.in/gYGXsEk6

New, from me: A new Internet-of-Things (IoT) botnet called Kimwolf has spread to more than 2 million devices, forcing infected systems to participate in massive distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks and to relay other malicious and abusive Internet traffic. Kimwolf’s ability to scan the local networks of compromised systems for other IoT devices to infect makes it a sobering threat to organizations, and new research reveals Kimwolf is surprisingly prevalent in government and corporate networks. https://lnkd.in/e2iecZpe

Two different hacking groups—LockBit5 and Termite—are claiming responsibility for stealing hundreds of gigabytes of data from Insight Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. Insight has acknowledged unauthorized access to its network between Aug. 22 and Sept. 11, 2025. Personal, financial and health data was accessed. The hospital didn't say how many people were affected. https://lnkd.in/gq-GjCJj

Osom Studio - WordPress &… • 2K followers
We just published our first WordPress plugin on wordpress.org. It's called Osom Multi Theme Switcher. It lets you run different themes on different pages of the same WordPress site. Why did we build it? Because we kept running into the same problem during client projects. Someone needs a landing page that looks completely different from the rest of the site. Or a WooCommerce shop section with its own design. Or a membership area with a separate theme. The usual answers are: build everything into one theme (messy), use a page builder (we don't), or hack together some functions.php workaround (fragile). So we built a plugin that just handles it cleanly. Assign themes to pages, posts, URLs, or categories. No code required. It has fewer than 10 installations right now. We're not pretending it's a big launch. But after 14 years of building WordPress sites for clients, it feels good to give something back to the ecosystem. One more thing. We are a service company. We help our clients with their custom projects. But launching our own project for the public feels like building a new company from scratch. Great feeling! https://lnkd.in/dchT32Gh

Tomorrow's ProductionESP32 newsletter will show how to get internet access when running in QEMU. I found out this week that the WiFi hardware isn't emulated in QEMU but you can still get an internet connection that all of the other modules (dns, http_client, mqtt) can use. All easy to run and step debug if you need. Link to subscribe in the comments. #esp32 #qemu #embedded #wifi
