I'm having a problem with Blender crashing/freezing whenever I try to texture paint my character. I don't know how to fix this, there's no answers on google or online anywhere. There isn't a whole lot of polygons/mesh, computer is decent shouldn't be crashing, I UV unwrapped my mushroom head and assigned the material to my model. But i cant ever get a dot of color on my model without it freezing. (I've also done this before in 2022, so i dont know why there's a problem now). Please help :[

3 - $\begingroup$ Hello, have you tried with a previous version of Blender? Also, have you tried with a simplified version of your object? Maybe it's a bit high in polygons? $\endgroup$moonboots– moonboots2025-03-03 07:56:57 +00:00Commented Mar 3 at 7:56
- $\begingroup$ Looks like the mesh is extremely dense towards the center, you may want to retopologize it a bit. Also add a seam somewhere before unwrapping to avoid stretching towards the center $\endgroup$Gorgious– Gorgious2025-03-03 08:41:56 +00:00Commented Mar 3 at 8:41
- $\begingroup$ @moonboots and Gorgious, thank you!! Simplifying my topology and adding seams before unwrapping the uvs worked well, thank you both for the help! $\endgroup$Kas– Kas2025-03-04 07:11:30 +00:00Commented Mar 4 at 7:11

The topology is too dense, simplify it, you can for example try a CtrlE > Un-Subdivide, but you'll probably need to re-unwrap afterwards.
