Setup in rest pose

I am trying to get the LowerArmSecondary bone to rotate along with the LowerArm (but it is not an exact copy of the rotation because the lowerplate needs to constrain the ends of the rods. The LowerPlateHelper bone is correctly tracking the end of LowerArmHelp, making the paired plate rotate, as seen in picture 2:

Rotating LowerArm disconnects plate

However, I am not sure what kind of constraint(s) to add to LowerArmSecondary to make it rotate exactly enough to keep the distances of the ends of LowerArmSecondary and LowerArmHelp constant.

  • $\begingroup$ I tried the IK way, but that tangled up the bones and even disconnected the LowerArmHelp. I will use the Copy Rotation that I mention in my answer, because it is convincing enough. $\endgroup$ Commented May 19 at 15:29

I do get pretty satisfying results using a Copy Rotation constraint on the LowerArmSecondary, although it does not mimic exactly what my real desk lamp is doing.

Using a copy rotation constraint on LowerArmSecondary
