I've been having such idea for a long time, where instead of completion AI predicts the change you'd want to do. And recently Zed text editor announced exactly this feature. Feature is free only temporary, but it's based on open-source datasets and trained network, which can be downloaded and run locally with lm-studio and whatnot.

Demo, taken from the presentation:

To reiterate what's on the picture: rootNode was a singular object, but then user made it an array and renamed to rootNodes. As result, putting caret after rootNode on another line suggests (besides boring rename) to rewrite null-comparison to comparison with 0 length.

The idea per se I think is something many people had by this time, so I'm wondering if perhaps anybody wrote similar functional for Emacs?

UPD:

  1. A feature request in Ellama mode.
  2. A feature request in minuet-ai.
