I wanted to create map layout like below in QGIS enter image description here

Basically in Map 1 Japan prefecture map whole view display while 2 ,3 and 4 are Zoomed view of maps. I wanted to turn on Prefecture Name in 2 ,3,4 Zoomed map and keep Map 1 without Name of Prefecture. Here i am using same vector layer for all 4.

You may set scale-based visibility for labels, thus enabling labels in one map and disabling them in another.

Alternatively, you may disable labels altogether, set your main map to your liking, then lock the layer settings for that map, and then enabled the labels for the other three maps.

Third option would be to duplicate the layer and use one without labels for the main map, and the other with labels for the smaller maps.

A fourth option would be to create two style for the layer (with and without label) then create two map theme and set each layout map to follow theme Commented Feb 7 at 16:01

Themes won't work unless the layer is duplicated. Creating a new style for a layer doesn't qualify it for a new theme. However, it could work in conjunction with the third option listed here. Commented Feb 10 at 16:02

Alternatively, you can add a map and finalize it first, then lock the layer. Next, add another map, finalize it, and lock the layer again. Repeat this process until all the maps you need are inserted. enter image description here

  • I would also like to add that you can duplicate the layer and create different layer groups and name them accordingly, eg inset 1, etc Commented Feb 10 at 14:34
