Image of digits. Task: identify which digit originates from a different typeface based on stroke contrast, serif construction, and stress axis. No prior assumptions; evaluate purely on typographic structure.
- 1Homework? It's more beneficial to do it yourself if you want to learn. It's actually fairly easy. Simply look at the forms of the glyphs. One clearly isn't the same as the others.Scott– Scott2025-11-04 13:42:03 +00:00Commented Nov 4 at 13:42
- It isn't homework, I was solving a design related paper but I do not agree with the answer in the answer key and I can't verify my rationale, so posted here to get others opinion. I believe 3 must be the answer, but it is notRitik Jangir– Ritik Jangir2025-11-04 13:47:53 +00:00Commented Nov 4 at 13:47
- Oh no.. 3 is most definitely not the correct answer. Hint: look at the serifs and how thin, the thin strokes are.Scott– Scott2025-11-04 14:08:28 +00:00Commented Nov 4 at 14:08
- aaa 1, 2, 4 and 7 have serifs - the text electoral mandate has serifs in the bottom of stems as well (l, r, M, n) but serif confuse me How do i then think? I tried to imagine a calligraphy pen and trace the characters with it (2 and 5 have thick strokes) But none of my reasoning is confident What is the right way to approach type faces? What all terminology should I be aware of?Ritik Jangir– Ritik Jangir2025-11-04 14:17:47 +00:00Commented Nov 4 at 14:17
- 1This is, overall, a bad question for Stack Exchange sites.. but okay.. its not about any specific terminology, it's about how the same aspects look different in the glyphs. Look at the serif on the bottom of the 3.. see it's a small, sort of slab serif. Look at the 5, it's got that same small slab serif on the top arm.. look at the 4, it's got that same small slab serif on the crossbar... look at the 7, it's got the same small slab serif on the top arm.. look at the 2.. how doe that serif compare to the small slab serif??Scott– Scott2025-11-04 14:31:14 +00:00Commented Nov 4 at 14:31
