There seem to be a handful of questions dealing with problems when using package array, like this one.

However, trying to add the missing tag array is flagged:

The tag [array] is too similar to [arrays]. If you think this new tag should be allowed, discuss it on meta.

So, for the time being I put package-array, which is not that ideal either. I think it's worth to distinguish this specific package from using arrays in math mode.

What's a better tag here?

  • I could see an argument for prefixing all of the package tags with package- (and similarly for class-), but that kind of Hungarian notation would probably be controversial (and a massive undertaking). Would it work to change the other to math-arrays? Are we allowed to have similar tags if the community wants it? Commented Jun 10 at 19:43

@Teepeemm, this may be a rare case, because this package can be puzzled with topic arrays. Most tags, indicating packages, don’t seem to be a problem. // Good remarks, BTW. Commented Jun 10 at 19:51

Although there are only three other cases like this, proof-package, cite-package, acronym-package, they use the convention that the word -package is suffixed. Maybe we should change the new tag package-array into array-package as well? Commented Aug 3 at 11:05
  • Good idea: changed tag to array-package. However: how will the old one go away? Looks like I can't delete it or suggest to be deleted. Commented Aug 3 at 12:04

I think it would work to remove the old tag from the question and put the new one. The old one will then be automatically deleted after some time because it is not used on any questions anymore. Commented Aug 3 at 12:31
