Definition

A compound fraction is a fraction such that the numerator or denominator or both are themselves fractions.

Also known as

A compound fraction is also known as a complex fraction.

However, the latter is not endorsed by $\mathsf{Pr} \infty \mathsf{fWiki}$ as it could be construed to mean something involving complex numbers.
