ftp prompt : is there any command to transfer files from one directory to other in Move a remote onlyfile at an FTP prompt

I don't think it's possible but still I w'dwould like to ask if there is any command to transfer a remote file from one directory to other in remote machine at ftpan FTP prompt. I explain

In more detail: I did ftprun ftp to a remote machine. I am in ftp prompt. I am at the ftp prompt, in the directory /a. By mistake, I have uploaded a file (via put) to this directory, but that's the wrong directory. I want to copy amove the file from this directory to /a/b directory. I don't think it's possible as ftp means to transfer from oneon the remote machine to other. But still I w'd like to ask you. If not then is it possible to telnet that machine as ftp is possible? Can I can ftp a remote machine but then can it be presumed that telnet w'd also work theredo this from the FTP prompt?

EDIT

As thought, it can't be presumed that telnet w'd also work if ftp does work. I have checked this right now. By mistakeand I have transferred (via put)cannot telnet to a wrong directorythat machine. SoIf this is impossible in FTP,please assist me on how is there another way I can shift or move thatthe file to a subdirectory. If no other way, then I needand avoid having to re-transfer.transfer it again?

Move a remote file at an FTP prompt

I don't think it's possible but still I would like to ask if there is any command to transfer a remote file from one directory to other at an FTP prompt.

I have checked and I cannot telnet to that machine. If this is impossible in FTP, is there another way I can move the file and avoid having to transfer it again?
