I'm trying to figure this problem out. My laptop with Linux Mint doesn't show the Thonny icon in the application/launch menu (whatever it's called, it's the button in the bottom-left corner of the desktop).

I had previously uninstalled Thonny and then reinstalled (to get the latest version so it would match my other Linux Mint machine). After the reinstall, Thonny didn't appear in the app menu so I looked for differences between the two machines and copied the /usr/share/applications/org.thonny.Thonny.desktop file over and updated the database with sudo update-desktop-database. I was able to get Thonny to appear in the app menu, but now I'm only missing the icon. Help?
