Dr Patrick Dixon MBE: Futurist Keynote Speaker - Dr Patrick Dixon MBE: Futurist Keynote Speaker
Patrick will bring a customised Keynote presentation on his own Mac.
Think of theatre rather than a traditional lecture. Patrick's Keynotes are highly visual with many images, animations, video clips - these are short, embedded video elements (almost always without sound). Content is created in close consultation with event organisers, adapted precisely to theme and audience. His Mac can sit on the technician's desk with all their other equipment. There is nothing for the technicians to do during the keynote itself. Setup time usually takes less than 5 minutes, including sound check, with good preparation on both sides before arrival.

Sample clip from a large event
Here is a recent event so you can see how visual these keynotes are.
Output resolution will be matched to your equipment - eg 1920x1200 (HDTV) or much higher resolutions such as 3000x1000.
He will provide a copy of the keynote in pdf format, on a USB stick for backup on a technician's machine.
Patrick will need nothing on stage except:
1) USB remote control to advance slides if the stage is a long distance from technicians.
2. Clip-on microphone as he walks around a lot - from one end of the stage across to the other, often right into the audience.
3. At least one monitor onstage so that he can see what is on the screen without needing to turn. Over 100 elements need to be timed precisely. If the stage is wide, think of a second monitor. If technicians are at the back of the hall, a great solution is turning Patrick's Mac around so that he can see from the stage what slide he is on. He does not need to read text, just to be sure what is happening rapidly behind him.
4. Confirmation of exact format / resolution at least one week before the event.
Planning your event with ultra-large screens or innovative staging?
If you are planning to be creative / innovative, please send a stage plan. Patrick adapts his material to display in dramatic ways across unusual stage sets, working perfectly across ultra-wide screens etc.
On the right is an example of a gigantic daylight LED screen - and a keynote made to fit - all driven from Patrick's own Mac.
Below right is a keynote in a theatre with around 700 people, where as you can see just a couple of minutes in, Patrick starts running video etc across three entire rear walls of the stage. Some of the video was recorded and edited by him the day before nearby, using local landmarks.
Very few keynote speakers know how to manage large audiences and even fewer know how to use tech in such a dynamic way. Most confine themselves to a traditional "Powerpoint Box".
Advance copies of keynotes? Patrick is pleased to supply draft keynote slides as a pdf ahead of time as a guide for discussion but they are mainly images, and the content is often adjusted slightly on arrival, in discussion with organisers, or even sitting in the back of the venue, listening to other speakers, customising responses in real-time to their own content, audience discussion and so on.
Video recording of keynotes. Patrick is always delighted for conference organisers to make video of his keynotes and to use them however they wish , including publishing online, on condition that he receives a copy soon after the event which he can use in the same way (confidential information removed).
