On my ancient 2014 macbook pro, I could map control-minus and control-equal to switch to the next desktop on the left or right, respectively.

However, it doesn't seem like this sort of thing is possible any more under Sequoia on my newer 2023 macbook pro.

Am I correct that I no longer can do this in Sequoia, or am I missing some way in that macos version to enable this exact, same key mapping?

  • Yes, control-right/left arrow works, but I want to change that to control-minus/equals, and I didn't know how to do that. But now I figured it out, and I'm posting my Answer here soon. Commented Mar 13 at 0:38

I figured out how to do this in Sequoia:

System Settings=>Shortcuts=>Keyboard Shortcuts

Then, click the Keyboard Shortcuts button in the right panel.

Then, click Mission Control in the left panel.

Then, click the right-pointing arrow to the left of Mission Control in the right panel.

This shows a few mission-control-related shortcuts, including the shortcuts for Move left a space and Move right a space. These can then be changed, and I set them to control-minus and control-equals.

And then I clicked Done at the lower right.
