- $\begingroup$ Ok, but then when do we use other types, I thought maybe we should use xyz color space, it makes sense, at least to me. Mind sharing thread that you think is duplicate? $\endgroup$Black Cloud– Black Cloud2019-07-09 11:53:13 +00:00Commented Jul 9, 2019 at 11:53
- $\begingroup$ The colour space describes the encoding of the image. The image isn’t likely encoded as XYZ, and frankly, I have no idea why the developers insist on cluttering up the configuration with edge-case transforms. $\endgroup$troy_s– troy_s2019-07-09 16:58:52 +00:00Commented Jul 9, 2019 at 16:58
- $\begingroup$ Well they are trying to make it more appealing to industry standards I guess, and someone might need to use that. So we should stick to sRGB and non-color if we don't have some special snowflake image to be used? $\endgroup$Black Cloud– Black Cloud2019-07-09 22:03:49 +00:00Commented Jul 9, 2019 at 22:03
- $\begingroup$ There are plenty of encodings out there that a typical person might run into. The reason XYZ prevails is simply cluelessness really. $\endgroup$troy_s– troy_s2019-07-10 01:02:07 +00:00Commented Jul 10, 2019 at 1:02

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. cycles-render-engine), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
