Cloudinary MediaFlows release notes: November 28, 2025

Last updated: November-28-2025

We publish Cloudinary MediaFlows release notes periodically to give you a quick overview of all the new features, enhancements, and fixes that we've recently released. When relevant, they may also give sneak previews of upcoming features and/or other share important announcements.

New Features

New PowerFlow trigger: Cloudinary Upload Preset

The new Cloudinary Upload Preset trigger lets you start a flow whenever an asset is uploaded to Cloudinary using certain upload presets. This gives you fine-grained control over which uploads activate your flows, so you can create different automations for different upload scenarios.

You can select multiple upload presets, and you can optionally filter by asset type or other conditions. This is particularly useful when you want to apply different processing rules based on the source or purpose of the upload.

New PowerFlow block: Update XMP Metadata

The new Update XMP Metadata block updates XMP metadata embedded within an image asset. It merges the new XMP metadata with existing values, updating only the specified fields (i.e., any fields that already exist are overwritten, and fields that don't yet exist are added).

New PowerFlow block: Video Chaptering

The new Video Chaptering block automatically generates chapter markers for videos, dividing them into meaningful segments with timestamps. This makes it easier for viewers to navigate long-form video content such as webinars, tutorials, or recorded presentations.

New PowerFlow block: Video Transcription

The new Video Transcription block generates text transcripts of the audio content in videos. This improves accessibility and SEO by making video content searchable and more inclusive for all audiences.

Enhancements

Control loop behavior in Iterate Assets and Iterate List

There's a new option, Run in parallel, in the Iterate Assets and Iterate List block configurations. By default it's set to No, so the next connected blocks run for each asset or item in turn before moving to the next one. If you don't need to process the assets/items in a specific order, you can speed up execution by running the next connected blocks in parallel. In this case, set Run in parallel to Yes.

Smarter variable handling

If you rename a block within a PowerFlow, all variable references are instantly updated, keeping your flow valid and running smoothly.

If you delete a block that other blocks reference, MediaFlows now shows a clear notification so you can easily see which blocks are affected and take action.

Block rename

The block that was originally called Enhance Image is now called Improve Image to reflect the underlying transformation that's applied (the improve effect).
