I'm a research student and previously specialized in Algebra and number theory. Currently I'm finding a research field in Crypto/coding theory. Algebraic geometry code seems interesting to me but some people tell me this field has little value in research... Is this field dead?

  • $\begingroup$ you need to be a bit more specific. do they tell you why it has little value? are you talking about algebraic geometric codes for error correction? Then it's only tangentially related to cryptography. Give some references to the type of research you mean.
