If you comment here, please be calm and polite, especially if you disagree. Also, define your terms; don't assume that everyone knows what you're talking about. Above all, be respectful. Making fun of or attacking someone whose beliefs aren't the same as yours--and this applies to both sides--is counterproductive; it changes no one's opinions and only convinces them to cling more strongly to the opinions with which you disagree. You're entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't mean I have to listen to it. Just as YOU don't have to read my blog if you don't like what it says.

Finances are very very bad right now, so I'm putting up this Paypal button in case anyone can help. If any of you can help, even a little, I would be grateful beyond measure.

PLACES YOU CAN FIND MY WRITING:

PUBLISHED WRITING:

"The Lindorm's Twin" for I Do!, an anthology in support of marriage equality. All profits go to the Lambda Legal Fund. Copies may be purchased in e-book and in print.

Queer Magic, anthology by Iris Print, to be published November 2007. Said story accepted for this anthology. However, the anthology has not been printed or distributed to date, and it seems likely that it will not be. As of May 19, 2008, there are rumors that Iris Print is closed and may be out of business, though the writers have not received any notification of bankruptcy. Also as of May 19, 2008, after MONTHS of having this book up on pre-order (despite the problems that the publisher was having), Amazon.com is finally listing the anthology as "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."

Iris Print has also sent at least one royalty check which has bounced. (The check wasn't mine.)

"Lubberkin,"Deep Magic, Issue 27, August 2004. The speculative fiction e-magazine is now out of business.

"Silver,"Monsters, anthology by Torquere Press. The anthology is now out of print.

FANFIC:

DISCLAIMER, as of 5/29/2007: It should be noted by anyone reading my fiction that even though I frequently read and write about things which are illegal, such as FICTIONAL homosexual relationships (which may or may not be legal, depending on where you live), FICTIONAL torture (of the magical variety), or FICTIONAL escapes from prison, this does NOT mean that I promote, condone, approve of, perform, exhort, or urge others to perform any of those activities in real life, or any others you think are illegal, because I know the difference between fiction and nonfiction. I am NOT telling you you should do anything illegal. I hope that if you are reading my stories, you also know the difference between fiction and nonfiction, and do not confuse works of fiction with real life acts.

An Archive Of Our Own Most of my recent fanworks are there, including my Dresden Files/Hellblazer novel, Besieging Omelas.

The Archive: A Collection of Dresden Files Fan Fiction (Just what it says. Most of the stories are gen, though one is slash.)

Gehayi's Skyehawke Page (pretty much everything--Harry Potter [including my Peter stories], Good Omens, Buffy, Angel, a little bit of Discworld, and an extremely snarky poem)

The Peter Pettigrew Pages (all of my Peter stories are at this site's Peterfic Database)

The Regulus Arc (AU stories about what might have happened to Regulus Black if he had gone after Sirius on the night Sirius ran away from home. Some were written by me, and some were written by [info]thistlerose. The site where they were archived is now permanently down. My arc stories are still archived at Skyehawke.

Saunter Vaguely Downwards--a Good Omens Fanfic Archive (self-explanatory, I think.)

I removed all of my stories from Fiction Alley. You can read about why here.

A quote worth remembering:

Will Roper: So now you'd give the Devil benefit of law!
Sir Thomas More: Yes. What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?
Roper: I'd cut down every law in England to do that!
More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country's planted thick with laws from coast to coast -- man's laws, not God's -- and if you cut them down -- and you're just the man to do it -- do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I'd give the Devil benefit of law...for my own safety's sake.

From A Man for All Seasons by Robert Bolt

And a quote about writing:

Ian Rankin, he of the best-selling Inspector Rebus mystery series, once said, and I am wildly paraphrasing here, “If I knew what was going to happen, why write the book?”

That’s pretty much how I work. I can’t actually think of a story if I try to outline one. I don’t know what’s going to happen, and I want to find out. So I write it.
