Tagline: Interactive Tableau dashboard analyzing Electric Vehicle (EV) adoption, market trends, and manufacturer performance across the United States.
GitHub About Section (suggestion):
Visual exploration of electric vehicle registration data — uncovering trends in EV adoption, manufacturer dominance, model growth, and CAFV eligibility using Tableau and Excel.
This project presents an Electric Vehicle (EV) Data Analysis Dashboard built using Tableau and Excel.
It analyzes trends in EV registrations, battery electric vehicle (BEV) vs plug-in hybrid (PHEV) distribution, average electric range, top-performing models and manufacturers, and Clean Alternative Fuel Vehicle (CAFV) eligibility across U.S. states.
The dashboard provides policymakers, manufacturers, and analysts with insights into EV adoption trends, regional concentration, and market share.
Explore the live, interactive dashboard — filter by EV type, model, manufacturer, CAFV eligibility, and state to view dynamic insights.
| Metric | Value | Insight |
|---|---|---|
| Total Vehicles | 150,413 | Represents all registered electric vehicles analyzed. |
| Avg. Electric Range | 67.83 miles | Indicates modest average range across the dataset, driven by older models and PHEVs. |
| BEV Vehicles | 116,745 (77.6%) | Majority of vehicles are fully electric, reflecting strong BEV adoption. |
| PHEV Vehicles | 33,668 (22.4%) | Hybrid vehicles still hold relevance for transitional consumers. |
- Growth has accelerated exponentially since 2015, peaking at 37,080 vehicles in 2022.
- Registrations surged after policy incentives and improved charging infrastructure.
- Slight decline in 2023 may be due to incomplete data collection or ongoing market normalization.
🧠 Insight: EV adoption is scaling quickly, signaling mainstream consumer transition toward electric mobility.
- Washington leads the nation with 150,082 registered EVs, far ahead of other states.
- Strong adoption along coastal regions and major metropolitan centers.
- Sparse adoption in midwestern and southern states indicates room for growth.
🧠 Insight: State-level incentives and charging infrastructure directly impact EV penetration.
| Rank | Manufacturer | Vehicles | % of Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tesla | 68,939 | 52.7% |
| 2 | Nissan | 13,497 | 10.3% |
| 3 | Chevrolet | 12,024 | 9.2% |
| 4 | Ford | 7,601 | 5.8% |
| 5 | BMW | 6,439 | 4.9% |
Insight: Tesla commands over half of the EV market, establishing itself as the clear market leader in both technology and volume.
| Category | Vehicles | % of Total |
|---|---|---|
| CAFV Eligible | 62,887 | 41.81% |
| CAFV Not Eligible | 17,829 | 11.85% |
| Eligibility Unknown | 69,697 | 46.34% |
🧠 Insight: While 42% of EVs qualify for clean fuel incentives, nearly half remain unclassified, indicating data reporting inconsistencies.
| Model | Make | Type | Vehicles | % of Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Model Y | Tesla | BEV | 28,501 | 18.95% |
| Model 3 | Tesla | BEV | 27,708 | 18.42% |
| Leaf | Nissan | BEV | 13,187 | 8.77% |
| Bolt EV | Chevrolet | BEV | 5,732 | 3.81% |
| Model X | Tesla | BEV | 5,114 | 3.40% |
Insight: Tesla’s Model Y and Model 3 alone contribute nearly 40% of all registered EVs, reinforcing the brand’s market dominance.
- ⚡ BEVs dominate (77% of all EVs), reflecting growing consumer trust in battery technology.
- 🚀 Tesla leads both in model count and overall manufacturer share.
- 🌎 Washington is the top EV state — demonstrating impact of state-level incentives.
- 🪫 Average range (67.83 mi) suggests opportunity for next-gen battery improvements.
