Xenogears Perfect Works Build: Includes an improved translation, rebalanced gameplay, and other quality of life improvements.

- Download Xenogears_Perfect_Works_Edition.X.X.X.7z. The Xs correspond to the release number.
- Open the Xenogears: Perfect Works Patcher.
- Open the ISO file for either or both discs.
- Select which patches you wish to apply.
- Press Patch. The script edits should take longer to patch as it has the most files to copy.
- Open the patched ROM on your chosen emulator. The file will be called Xenogears_PW_CDX. X corresponds to the disc number.
- Download Xenogears_Perfect_Works_Patches.X.X.X.7z. The Xs correspond to the release number.
- Apply a patch or the patches using xdelta. Make sure you are applying them to an unpatched ROM of the original game.
- If there are warnings when applying the patches, turn off checksum validation.
The patches provided are as follows:
- all_50_exp_gold - Applies all patches besides story mode. 1.5x exp and gold are used.
- all_100_exp_gold - Applies all patches besides story mode. 2x exp and gold are used.
- all_50_exp_gold_no_gfx - Applies all patches besides story mode and the graphical settings. 1.5x exp and gold are used.
- all_100_exp_gold_no_gfx - Applies all patches besides story mode and the graphical settings. 2x exp and gold are used.
- bug_fixes - Only bug fixes are applied.
- story_mode - Applies story mode.
- story_mode_script - Applies story mode and the script changes.
WARNING: When a ROM has been made, do not resume progress by loading a save state. As a different ROM is being used, the game will crash due to the changing of data positions. To resume a playthrough, load a hard save.
- Name/terminology changes: 100%
- Main script: 91% (up to the Wave Existence)
- NPC script: 5% (plus all name/terminology changes)
Xenogears: Perfect Works is a collaborative project aiming to make Xenogears a more complete experience. This does contain unmarked but mild spoilers, so readers are advised and warned not to scroll through this if they’re looking to use this mod to enjoy the game for the first time, or you simply never got to into it for various reasons we hope to address. These spoilers are primarily for certain story events in the story bits and lines are relegated to story specific changes and certain boss fights dungeons and all moves party members and availability are mentioned in the gameplay focused changes.

DISCLAIMER: Some of the patches were designed to work in tandem with each other. The 2x exp and gold patches were designed to work with the lower encounter rate patch. The monster stats and party/item patch both act as a rebalancing hack. They can be used separately from each other, but they were designed with the mindset of using them together.

- 2x exp and gold bug with the patcher where values are still multiplied by 1.5x has been resolved.
- Tutorials for Gear Deathblow functions have been added.
- The attack multipliers for the Gears have been rebalanced. Details are in the wiki.
- Bart's Gear Deathblows have been reorganised. Details are in the wiki.
- Made the relationship between the portrait options clearer on the patcher.
- Sword Knight R and Shield Knight R have been abbreviated.
- Deathblowers have been renamed to Atk LvX Max, with X indicating attack level.
- DeathblowX has been renamed to UltimaSwitch.
- Completion message gives an indicator of the file names of the patched ROMs.
- Added missing portraits during the Rankar encounter.
- Added missing portraits for Rico and Hammer in the Yggdrasil.
- Fixed camera bug in the baptism ceremony.
- Fixed sleep music cut off in the prison dorm.
- EtherStone and EtherStoneLg have had price and shop placement edits. Details are in the wiki.
- Position of the coward's dialogue boxes has been fixed.
- Lahan's NPC script has been checked.
- Fixed a dialogue box bug in Billy's room.
- Ravine has been renamed to Lawine.
- Fixed bugs with dialogue boxes and character orientation at the Orphanage.

- The gears used by the Special Forces have been changed to be more faithful to the Japanese version. Details are in the wiki.
- Restored a previously inaccessible line in Dazil where Citan discusses Fei's aptitude with Weltall.
- Game freeze that would occur on more accurate emulators when opening Special Options has been fixed.
- Bug where Deathblows are unusable in disc 1 has been fixed with items/characters.
- Bug where damage will drop to 1 after a while in disc 1 has been fixed with items/characters.
- Camera bug at the start of the Fei carbonite sequence.
- Graphical artifact during the Vendetta chase sequence has been fixed.
- Camera bug when Fei sees the coward has been fixed.
- Elly's dialogue at the church infirmary now prioritises a line where she expresses guilt about the hypnosis.
- The game now auto-advances when Billy goes through the Church HQ door ahead of the party.
- A fix has been applied to the scene where Rene arrives at the portrait room.

- Script has been updated up to the arrival at point Bethlehem.
- All graphical bug fixes have been added to the other patches. The "graphical fixes" option has been replaced with a "portrait fixes" one, which is mutually exclusive to the "resized portraits" option.
- Karellen's dialogue to Ramsus in Merkabah provides more insight into his backstory.
- Elly's spells have been buffed. Details are in the wiki.
- Script and spriting issues in Merkabah have been fixed.
- Merged story mode and script version of the G Elements fight has been fixed.
- Wither and Weaken are temporarily unavailable until bugs surrounding them have been fixed.
- A camera bug in the second Roni campfire scene has been fixed.
- EP is now used in the character selection screen over MP.
- Defense has been changed to Defend on the command ring during battle.
