New hero looks a bit odd, at least on mobile. The image has some weird lines / cuts, and the text is too high / not balanced. I could be wrong but is the color a bit brighter then it's supposed to be?

  1. What weird lines?
  2. True, I'm gonna try to play with the text a bit more to balance it out
  3. The image is brighter, for sure. But when I picked the color it gave me basically the same color that appears on /press: FF9416, while the previous frontpage was D5862E. Shouldn't we use the color expressed on /press? We can change it if it doesn't look good, but I do like the new, brightest one, more.

  1. Not sure how important it is to make it look good in most phone models that Chrome Inspect gives you to preview. I see some iPads/ wide screens could make the sides look cut too, I could apply the fading for the image that is used on mobile too.

Hmm I'm not really a big fan of the collage tbh, should have commented that earlier

Also the tagline should maybe be discussed, did that happen? Let's maybe revert and put it in smaller PRs?

I mean, if you want to subdivide the changes, be my guest.

If you want to propose alternative designs or something, that would be appreciated too. I've just sent a MicroCommit about giving feedback to the website, so... we may get feedback against the collage.

I'd prefer it to what existed before.

The color mismatch and lines/cuts may be related to #664, which fixes the orange background looking inconsistent, particularly with the Dark Reader extension enabled or browsers other than Chrome.

Also, #667 fixes two separate issues with the homepage hero:

  • portrait desktop windows (e.g. a half-screen browser on a wide monitor) incorrectly getting the mobile layout
  • flashes on mobile

Some more homepage fixes:
