The example, using ints and floats, was really a toy example and should be replaced.

One possibility would be one working e.g. with NumPy arrays, GPU arrays, and maybe even the Array API as one backend (that uses an abstract type).

This is much more interesting, approachable, and matches a use-case we are interested in.

It may also be good to move the example into its own subfolder/package.
