From what I read the axiomatic approach came in mathematics in modern era, which would mean that mathematics wasn't always originally developed axiomatically?

Can someone explain what was history of axioms and how can math developed without axioms?

$\begingroup$ Actually, the oldest mathematical treatise based upon axioms is Euclid's Elements, which was written around 300 BCE. Where the you get the idea that “the axiomatic approach came in mathematics only in the 19th century”? $\endgroup$ Commented Aug 2 at 6:44

$\begingroup$ No. Most mathematics is not developed from axioms. $\endgroup$ Commented Aug 2 at 7:16

$\begingroup$ The question how axiomatics was viewed and developed through history is a question still investigated by historians of mathematics. See for example this synopsis. $\endgroup$ Commented Aug 3 at 16:20
