Type specimens were collected from a beach on south-western coast of the Korean Peninsula by rinsing intertidal coarse sandy sediments. Neocyclops hoonsooi sp. n. is most characteristic in showing the conspicuous chitinized transverse ridges originating from the medial margins of the coxae of all swimming legs. The new species is most similar to Neocyclops vicinus, described from the Brazilian coast, and Neocyclops petkovskii, from Australia. All three species share a large body size (more than 750 µm long), the presence of an exopodal seta on the antenna, two setae on the mandibular palp, the same seta/spine armature on the third endopodal segment of leg 3 (3 setae + 3 spines), and the fairly long inner distal spine on the third endopodal segment of the female leg 4. Zoological Studies 46(2): xxx-xxx. Two new halacarid species of the genus Agauopsis (Acari: Halacaridae), collected from South Korea, are described. Both species belong to the A. brevipalpus group. Agauopsis ivanomorsellii sp. nov. is characterized by an 'H'-shaped areola on the anterior dorsal plate (AD), the posterior dorsal plate (PD) with 4 costae, dorsal setae-4 situated on the PD, telofemur I with a ventral and 2 ventromedial spines, the female genitoanal plate (GA) slightly arched anteriorly, and the male GA truncated anteriorly. Agauopsis youngilensis sp. nov. is characterized by an 'M'-shaped areola on the AD, a PD with 4 costae, 2 ventral and 2 ventromedial spines on telofemur I, the male GA slightly arched anteriorly, and the female GA anteriorly truncated or slightly arched.

A new species of Halacaridae, Copidognathus koreanus is recorded from the Korean coast mostly amo... more A new species of Halacaridae, Copidognathus koreanus is recorded from the Korean coast mostly among intertidal coralline algae. The present new species comes close with C.auroroe Newell, C.curtus (Hall), C.richardi (Trouessart) and C.unolaskensis Newell. Morphological similarities and dissimilarities among them are discussed. This is the first report on the marine halacarid mite from Korea.

A New Species and A New Record of Halacarid Mites (Acari: Halacaridae) from Jejudo Island, Korea

Two species of halacarid mites belonging to genus Copidognathus viz C. jejuensis n. sp. and C. po... more Two species of halacarid mites belonging to genus Copidognathus viz C. jejuensis n. sp. and C. polyporus Bartsch, 1991 are described on the basis of the specimens collected from an algal bed in Jejudo Island, Korea. Copidognathus jejuensis n. sp. is closely related with C. dentatus Viets, C. dentipes Bartsch and C. eblingi Chatterjee. Morphological similarities and dissimilarities among them are discussed. Copidognathus polyporus Bartsch is reported for the first time from Korea and away from its type localitiy. A key to the species of genus Copidognathus from Korea is provided.

ABSTRACT Simognathus coreensis n. sp. is described on the basis of the specimens collected from Y... more ABSTRACT Simognathus coreensis n. sp. is described on the basis of the specimens collected from Youngdeok, the east coast of South Korea. This is the first record of this genus from Korea. Diagnostic features are as follows: big cornea present on ocular plate, covering major portion of it; lateral claws II–IV with accessory process which contain about 5 minute (meaning `very small&#39;) teeth, and lateral claws smooth ventrally; prominent foveae on all telofemora; anterodorsal and posterodorsal plate subequal; lateral side of anterior epimeral plate foveate. This species is similar to S. corneatus Otto and S. exoticus Otto. Dissimilarities are discussed.
