I'm contributing to an open-source Hugo theme and would like to include a small icon linking to users' Unix Stack Exchange profiles. The icon would be used solely for this purpose and would not imply any endorsement or partnership with Stack Exchange.

The pull request is here: https://github.com/adityatelange/hugo-PaperMod/pull/1802

Before proceeding, I wanted to ensure that this usage aligns with Stack Exchange's trademark guidelines. Could you please confirm if this is acceptable?

Thank you for your time and assistance!

As Elements In Space mentioned, you can review our Trademark Guidelines on this subject.

We do not ordinarily respond on case-by-case basis to these kinds of inquiries, but as you've described it, your use-case appears to fall under the following portion, under "Design Of Your Product":

  • DO feel free to use names or logos for the purpose of labeling our sites within your product, as long as use of such logos could not be confused with the branding or endorsement of the product itself.

However, I recommend that you review your use-case carefully and ensure it falls within the Trademark Guidelines.
