I configured a RAID array with three HDDs on an HPE DL380 Gen11 server, but I want to install ESXi on a 7.6 terabyte NVMe drive installed on the motherboard.

The server detects the NVMe drive in the Rapid Setup of Intelligent Provisioning and during the ESXi installation process. However, it does not appear in the boot options.

What could be the problem?

Does the server's system firmware support NVMe? An OS will see NVMe drives without needing any firmware support (as the OS directly manages its PCI devices) - and Intelligent Provisioning is basically a kiosk Linux so it might have NVMe drivers like any other Linux - but booting requires the device type to be supported by system firmware itself. • If you select the option to select the boot device, does the NVMe device show up? And can you see the device in the BIOS? Multiple Linux distributions on Gen10/Gen11/Gen12 servers have no problems booting from NVMe. Commented Sep 9 at 23:27
