All, I find that gparted is not downloaded on centos 10 even after installing sudo dnf install epel-release -y . Other packages also are not downloadable like gvim. Any idea what should I do? Here are the repolist that I have on the machine:

repo id repo name appstream CentOS Stream 10 - AppStream baseos CentOS Stream 10 - BaseOS crb CentOS Stream 10 - CRB epel Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux 10 - x86_64 extras-common CentOS Stream 10 - Extras packages

Thanks

GParted is currently not available in EPEL for RHEL/CentOS 10. It was requested, but the maintainers haven't responded in bugzilla so far.

In general, if you are missing a package in the EPEL repository, you should fill a bug requesting it to be added.

As an alternative to GParted, you can try using GNOME Disks (package is called gnome-disk-utility) or the storage plugin in Cockpit (both available in the AppStream repository) or blivet-gui (available in EPEL).

gvim is available in the AppStream repository, the package is called vim-X11.

  • how about other packges like gvim, those package, as far as I remember, were available before, at least on fedoar with simple yum without having to install new repositories. Commented Nov 20 at 13:23
  • RHEL/CentOS contains only (small) subset of packages available in Fedora. That's why EPEL exist and if you are missing a package that is in Fedora and not in EPEL, you need to report a bug requesting it to be added. gvim is available in the (by default enabled) AppStream repository, the package is called vim-X11.
