Variable Selection Method

Dropping variables from the model,
We test, we weigh, we drop
A cluster of choices trimmed by
Chi-Square, ANOVA, Stepwise.
Every day, I question selection:
What inputs define the best-fit version of me?
What hobbies to nurture, what goals to pursue,
Which passions do I fuel, and which fade in silence?
Every decision is a potential predictor
But keep too many, and the model breaks:
Degrees of freedom dissolve,
P-values lie, and confidence crumbles.
Time is a limited dataset
And like regression, life punishes excess.
But what matters most? What adds noise?
Which terms bring truth, and which overfit?
If only life had a formula.
A method to prune the noise from the truth,
To sift through the features
And yield a model that is clean and clear.
