He understood that God is good, and he was able to heal based on this spiritual truth in a way that was systematic, logical, and understandable. Christian Scientists believe that spiritual healing—as taught by Christ Jesus—is accessible to anyone today.

The church is designed to support a community of people who want to understand more about God and practical Christianity. There is something inherently comforting about gathering with others who are searching for the same answers that you are. Church—and Sunday School for children and teens—provides a space for that gathering and supportive learning.

Christian Science, discovered in 1866 by Mary Baker Eddy, is based on the Bible and the teachings of Christ Jesus. Those teachings point to laws of God that, when understood, bring healing. Christian Science teaches that spiritual healing—as taught by Christ Jesus—is accessible to anyone today. There are Christian Science churches around the world that share Christian Science with their communities.
Christian Science has six religious tenets. They are rooted in the Bible, and are found in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy on pages 496-497.
As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life.
We acknowledge and adore one supreme and infinite God. We acknowledge His Son, one Christ; the Holy Ghost or divine Comforter; and man in God’s image and likeness.
We acknowledge God’s forgiveness of sin in the destruction of sin and the spiritual understanding that casts out evil as unreal. But the belief in sin is punished so long as the belief lasts.
We acknowledge Jesus’ atonement as the evidence of divine, efficacious Love, unfolding man’s unity with God through Christ Jesus the Way-shower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through Truth, Life, and Love as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death.
We acknowledge that the crucifixion of Jesus and his resurrection served to uplift faith to understand eternal Life, even the allness of Soul, Spirit, and the nothingness of matter.
And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure.
Christian Science is a Christian, Bible-based religion based on the teachings of Christ Jesus. Scientology is based on the teachings of L. Ron Hubbard. They are not related to one another.
Science is the systematic study of how the universe works, and it requires evidence to confirm the truth of its findings. Similarly, Christian Science seeks to understand the spiritual laws that govern us, and the evidence that these laws are true is seen through healing. The way Christ Jesus healed was systematic, logical, and repeatable. Anyone is capable of healing the way that Jesus did by learning about God’s divine laws. People around the world are proving this today through healing.
Christian Scientists approach health as they do every aspect of life—from a spiritual basis. We turn to God in prayer for help and healing, including for physical needs. This reliance is based on more than 150 years of reliable, consistent healing through Christian Science. There is a misperception that Christian Scientists aren’t allowed to visit doctors. In fact, Christian Scientists are free to choose their own form of healthcare—whether it is spiritual healing, medical care, or some other method. The reason they often choose a prayer-based approach to healing is because they’ve found it to be effective.
