About GameReport

i’m Nathan, and i’ve been playing games since before I could spell the word controller. From the PS1 days through to whatever ridiculously gorgeous thing the RE Engine is doing now, games have been my thing. Not a phase, not a hobby i picked up during lockdown, the real deal… we’re talking decades of saved files, broken thumbsticks and very questionable sleep schedules.

I’ve played across pretty much every genre and franchise you can think of. Resident Evil, Dragon Age, Monster Hunter, Diablo, Lord of the Rings, Kingdom Come, you name it. And i don’t just play them, i play them properly. Full campaigns, side quests, the lot. If there’s a 100% achievement run to be done, i’ve probably done it. If there’s a secret puzzle i’ve found it.

I’ve also written for some of the bigger names in the industry including GamesRadar, TechRadar and PCGamer. But the more i wrote for other people, the more i realised that the way mainstream outlets review games didn’t sit right with me. Too many reviews are based on a few hours of play, slapped with a score and moved on. That’s not how we actually experience games. We live in them for weeks, we discover things 40 hours in that change how we feel about the whole experience, and I think reviews should reflect that.

So I built GameReport.

This is a one-person, independent site. No sponsors, no publisher deals, no pressure to rush out a review to hit an embargo. I play the games, properly, and i tell you what it’s actually like to keep playing. The good, the bad, and the bits that make you want to throw your controller at the wall. Honestly.

I also believe in giving credit where it’s due. Small studios making great games for the price of a pizza deserve the same attention as AAA blockbusters charging quadruple for half the content. If the mainstream reviewers gave something a rough deal and i think they’re wrong, i’ll say so. And if something is genuinely bad, i’ll say that too. No sugar coating, no sycophancy, just honest coverage from someone who actually plays the things.

Whether you’ve been gaming since the days of Crash Bandicoot or you’ve just picked up your first controller, you’re welcome here. GameReport is built for people who love talking about games as much as playing them.
