Payment Policy
Pricing
The fees for all Services are described on our pricing page. All prices are in U.S. dollars and do not include any taxes. We may modify our prices from time to time, at our sole discretion, provided that, we will endeavor to give you 30-days’ advance notice of any pricing changes via the email address you provided in your Account Information, at which point you may choose to renew, cancel, or change your subscription plan.
Billing Periods and Charges
We bill for the Services on a monthly or annual basis, depending on the plan you select (each billing cycle, a "Billing Period"). For monthly plans, you will be billed the then-current fees applicable to your subscription plan at the beginning of each monthly Billing Period, subject to the 30-day notice period above. You acknowledge and agree that you are authorizing recurring payments. You may cancel your subscription plan at any time by contacting us at support@imgix.com. For annual plans, the full annual fee is charged upfront as a one-time payment at the time of purchase (the "Annual Term"). Annual plans consist of 12 equal monthly Billing Periods. Credits are allocated monthly, not annually (see Credits section below). Annual plans renew automatically at the end of the Annual Term unless canceled prior to renewal.
Imgix (or its third-party payment processor) will charge the credit or debit card provided by you to Imgix ("Payment Method"") for the applicable fees, on a recurring basis, at the first of each Billing Period for the Services to be provided during such Billing Period until you or Imgix cancels, terminates, or suspends the Services (in accordance with the Terms of Service).
All sales are final and no refunds will be issued even if a cancellation, termination, or suspension occurs during a Billing Period. Further, if the Payment Method provided by you to Imgix or its third-party payment processor is unable to cover the applicable fees, Imgix may immediately suspend your access to the Services.
You represent and warrant that you (a) have the right to have fees charged to your Payment Method, and (b) agree to have the fees charged to your Payment Method on a recurring basis.
Purchasing a paid monthly plan when a Billing Period is in progress will incur a pro-rated charge relative to the number of days left in that period. Annual plans are not subject to proration.
CREDITS
Imgix uses a credits-based pricing model in which you purchase a certain number of credits (“Credits”) in advance based on your subscription tier. Credits are a measure of capacity that is consumed by media management, delivery, and transformation, and represent the amount of Services you have paid for in advance through your subscription. You may view your Credit usage and balance on the Credits and Billing page within the Imgix dashboard. For more information on our pricing and the amount of credits associated with each subscription bundle, please see Pricing.
Credits are not legal tender or currency and are not redeemable, refundable, or exchangeable for any sum of money or monetary value (except as required by law). Once purchased, Credits have no equivalent value in fiat currency and do not constitute or confer upon you any personal property right. Credits are not transferable among users or any other third party and cannot be used or redeemed for third-party goods or services.
Credits must be used during the Billing Period for which they are purchased. Any unused Credits will expire at the end of the applicable Billing Period and will not roll over into the next Billing Period. All sales are final and except as required by applicable law, you will not receive a refund for any unused Credits at the end of a Billing Period or if your subscription plan or account with Imgix is canceled, terminated, or suspended. For annual plan customers, Credits are allocated on a monthly basis at the start of each monthly Billing Period within the Annual Term. Unused Credits do not roll over from one monthly Billing Period to the next, even within the same Annual Term. Your monthly Credit allotment is determined by your annual plan tier.
Additional information on the current consumption of Credits for various uses of the Services is available in our Credit Consumption Guide. We may modify the amount of Credits consumed per use of the Services from time to time, in our sole discretion.
Exceeding Limits and overage pricing
If your use of the Services during a Billing Period exceeds the amount of Credits you purchased for that Billing Period, you may continue to use the Services, but you will be charged an additional premium of 20% above the standard per Credit pricing associated with your subscription bundle (“Overage Pricing”) for any Credits consumed in excess of your standard allotment, until the end of the Billing Period. The maximum amount of additional Credits you may purchase through Overage Pricing is 300% of your standard allotment. For example, if the cost of Credits associated with your subscription plan is $0.30 per Credit and your standard allotment is 250 credits, the Overage Pricing for each Credit used beyond your standard allotment of Credits will be $0.36 per Credit and you may consume a maximum of 500 additional Credits. Imgix will provide notice via the email address you provided in your Account Information when you have consumed [80%, 90%, 100%, 125%, 150%, 200%, 250%, and 300%] of your standard Credit allotment for a Billing Period, but Overage Pricing will apply automatically and without further notice if your use of the Services during the Billing Period exceeds your allotted Credits and Overage limit. Once you reach the maximum Overage limit, your cached content will continue to serve normally to avoid major service disruptions, and associated Overage fees will still apply. However, new image and video renderings will be temporarily paused until your plan is upgraded or your Credit limit resets at the start of the next Billing Period.
You authorize Imgix (or its third-party payment processor) to charge your Payment Method for the cost of any Credits you use that are subject to Overage Pricing. Charges for Credits subject to Overage Pricing will be invoiced separately. For monthly plan customers, overage charges are invoiced on the first day of the following Billing Period. For annual plan customers, overage charges are invoiced as a one-time charge to the card on file when incurred on a monthly basis. You will receive separate invoices: one for your standard subscription fee and additional invoices for any incurred overages — reflected in the Credits & Billing page within the Imgix dashboard.
Alternatively, you may opt out of Overage Pricing through the Credits and Billing page within the Imgix dashboard. If you opt out of Overage Pricing and your use of the Services exceeds your available Credits during a Billing Period, your account will be limited and you will not be able to submit new requests for Services. However, you will still incur Overage fees for any usage necessary to maintain existing services, such as delivery and management Credits. Your Credits consumption will reset at the beginning of each Billing Period. If you exceed your available Credits, your access to the Services can be restored by:
- Enabling Overage Pricing;
- Waiting until the next Billing Period begins; or
- Upgrading to a new plan with the appropriate limits
In the Event of Termination, Suspension and Cancellation
Accounts that have been terminated, suspended, and canceled will no longer be billed by our service, and will receive an error when making API requests to our service. No refunds will be issued.
Overage Pricing for Annual Plans
For annual plan customers, Overage Pricing is calculated at 1.2x (120%) of the monthly equivalent per-Credit rate — not the discounted annual per-Credit rate. The monthly equivalent rate is the rate that would apply if the customer were on the corresponding monthly plan.
Example (Annual Plan): A Starter Annual customer pays $250/year, which is effectively $0.21 per Credit with the annual discount. However, overage Credits are calculated based on the monthly Starter rate of $0.25 per Credit. Overages therefore cost $0.30 per Credit (1.2 × $0.25), not $0.252 (1.2 × $0.21). The 300% Overage cap applies in the same manner as monthly plans.
Annual Plan Upgrades, Downgrades, and Conversions
Upgrades During an Annual Term: Annual plan customers may upgrade to a higher-tier annual plan at any time during their Annual Term. Upgrades take effect immediately and are handled as an amendment to the existing contract — the customer completes the remaining period of the original Annual Term on the new plan, rather than starting a new 12-month cycle. The remaining balance of the current Annual Term is prorated, and the customer pays the difference between the prorated cost of the old plan and the new plan for the remainder of the term. Monthly Credit capacity is updated immediately upon upgrade.
Example: A customer on a Basic Annual plan ($750/year) upgrades to Growth Annual ($3,000/year) at the 6-month mark. The unused portion of Basic is $375 (6 months remaining). The cost for 6 months of Growth is $1,500. The customer pays the $1,125 difference. The upgraded monthly Credit capacity applies immediately.
Downgrades During an Annual Term: Annual plan customers may request a downgrade to a lower-tier plan. Downgrades take effect at the next annual renewal date and are not immediate. No refund or credit is issued for the difference in plan cost. The customer retains their current-tier Credit allocation through the end of the Annual Term. Overages incurred before the downgrade takes effect are billed at the current plan’s monthly equivalent rate.
Conversions Between Monthly and Annual Plans: Monthly plan customers may convert to an annual plan at any tier. The annual plan will begin at the end of the current monthly Billing Period. The full annual fee is charged at the start of the Annual Term. Annual plan customers may convert to a monthly plan at any tier. The monthly plan will begin at the end of the current Annual Term. No refund is issued for the remaining Annual Term.
Cancellation
For monthly plan customers, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current Billing Period. No refund is issued for the remaining Billing Period. For annual plan customers, cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid Annual Term. No refund is issued for the remaining term. Monthly Credits continue to be allocated through the end of the Annual Term.
If you cancel and later wish to reinstate your subscription before your current term expires, contact support@imgix.com. Reinstatement does not extend the original term or incur additional charges. Immediate account deletion is available only upon explicit request to support@imgix.com.
Auto-Renewal
All paid plans renew automatically at the end of each Billing Period or Annual Term at the then-current rate for the applicable tier. If you do not wish to renew, you must cancel before the renewal date. If a renewal payment fails, Imgix may suspend access to the Services until payment is resolved.
