I'm trying to create a radar effect similar to the one Lexus uses in this link Lexus Radar

enter image description here

I've attempted to make the lines or waves, but I'm struggling to get the larger curved shapes and adjust their speed properly. What might I be missing? Is there a better way to approach this effect?

See attached .blend-file:

You can do it with math. You can use modulo to divide a gradient into parts and you can raise it to some power to make it non-linear if wanted(not sure) and you can move it just by addition:

You can use the same gradient inverted or remapped with Map Range node to control opacity fading in the distance or any way you can imagine really.

$\begingroup$ @David The speed is controlled by the keyframed Add value. $\endgroup$ Commented Apr 7 at 13:29
  • $\begingroup$ Pulsating in the waves could be controlled by other gradients. I don't see much of that in the reference though, not sure I understand what you want. The reference only shows the waves fading out with distance. You can use the same main spherical gradient to control fading out to distance. $\endgroup$ Commented Apr 7 at 14:01
