I created a mesh, added an Image Texture, and painted on it. The paint strokes appear in the Material Preview but not in the Rendered view. I'm using Cycles.

- 1$\begingroup$ Usually it only needs refreshing, for example switching back and forth between Material Preview and Rendered view. At least on my PC, this has been in older versions of Blender and it is still in the current version 4.4 acting like that. For anything else sharing your file might be helpful. $\endgroup$Gordon Brinkmann– Gordon Brinkmann2025-04-08 07:12:21 +00:00Commented Apr 8 at 7:12
- $\begingroup$ You can't see the real time painting in Cycles and Rendered preview mode, you need to switch to Eevee ot to Material preview mode $\endgroup$moonboots– moonboots2025-04-08 08:00:17 +00:00Commented Apr 8 at 8:00

In Cycles, Image Textures update only when you enter Rendered Mode, meaning you need to re-enter it for changes to take effect. This isn't very efficient when painting textures.
