Relational database • all data is stored in Relations are tables with rows and columns.
Relational database ctnd.. Advantages disadvantages Ease of use. Performance Flexibility. Developer Expertise Data Independence Hardware Performance Data Manipulation Language ex: MySQL, Oracle, SQL server, Microsoft access ect..
Document-oriented database • designed for storing, retrieving, and managing document-oriented info.. • NoSQL database.
Document-oriented database ctnd.. advantages disadvantages Documents are independent units does not support transactional operations. easier to write. space is too large. Unstructured data can be stored easily. Not mature maintenance tool for development and IT operations are noteworthy. Economics ex: MongoDB, RavenDB etc..
Embedded database. • integrated with an application software. • database system is "hidden“.
Hypertext database • Particularly useful for organize disparate data. • For example online encyclopaedias.
Operational database • data about the things that go on inside an enterprise. ex: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB,(NoSQL) etc..
Distributed database • storage devices are not all attached to a common processing unit.
