I'm offering to make Sentinel DVDs again for Moonridge. The information about the format and details are behind the cut.

Isn't it gorgeous? I picked it up at the Cloudcroft Mayfair, Art in the Park. This picture is 8x10 inches, using only natural wood colors (with a bit of burning from a soldering iron). It's in two layers, with the tree-trunks and red foreground standing out from the rest of the picture.

Wolves in Moonlight, Carved Wood

Also the original HL movie, and the Dr. Who poster set I posted earlier. You can all my offerings for this year at this tag. Only the first 10 posts -- down to Dr. Who poster-set. When I was a very young fangirl in the first flush of Dr. Who fandom, I subscribed to the Dr. Who UK magazine. At one point, the magazine showcased full-page paintings of the Doctor's incarnations in pairs. (At the time, there were only six.)

I pulled them from the magazine and, in an attempt to be "artistic", cut around the pictures so they wouldn't look so 'pagey'. I used double-stick to mount them on poster-board, 10.5x13, which has aged to a creme color. Viewed face on, the pictures look smooth, but when viewed from the side, slight 'bulges' are evident between the lines of tape.

They hung on my closet door for many years, in a dimly-lighted room with no direct sun exposure. Although the poster-board is no longer white, the color of the pictures has not faded.

I'm offering a set (times 6) of homemade DVDs, all 65 episodes of The Sentinel. (Or, you can choose Seasons 2-4, if you have the commercial first season.) This post gives a full description of source, quality, and a picture of a disc-index.

Horsehair pottery, handmade by a Native American artisan -

Wolf-Bear-Eagle

Somewhat darker than the picture; you'll probably want a lighted niche. Size is 11" from base to top of eagle's head, and 10" from wolf's nose to side of bear's head.

Shipping paid in US; will split costs outside of US.

This week was the big annual Arts and Crafts fair. I went on Sunday (Saturday was a hot-air balloon fiesta in Artesia; I'll post when I have some pics edited). Mostly I was hoping to see Maria Plum, the native American woman who does the horsehair pottery. I haven't seen her for two years, so was tremendously pleased to find her back. (She's had some RL problems; we shared "It's been one damn thing after another" stories.)

Anyway, I found a gorgeous piece for my sister, a cute little thing for a friend of a friend, and this...

Wolf-Bear-Eagle

Recently, Maria's been playing with adding color to the pieces. Frequently, I prefer the plain white background, but this pieces really works; the colors make the animals look more "real", somehow. It's not exactly 'Sentinel', but it's so stunning that I figure someone out there will want it. I'll get to enjoy it till June, then submit it for the Moonridge auction next year. It's a good size -- 11" from base to top of eagle's head, and 10" from wolf's nose to side of bear's head.

Anyway, couldn't resist showing it off. I assume we'll have a Moonridge auction next year -- *waves to Aly* -- so you can start saving pennies after the Christmas bills are paid. <g>

Aly and her Moonies have been busy little bees, and most of the items are listed and up for bidding. (There may be later items posted as people continue to donate.)

You can register at the home page of The Free Auction.com.

The listings for our Moonridge items starts on this page.

As you click on each link, you'll see how long that item will remain open. (Two weeks from the time it was posted, so each item ends at a different time.)

Minimum bid for all items is $10.00; you only need $1.00 to raise. The neat thing about this site is, it will automatically bid for you, but no higher than is necessary to beat the competing bid. So if I decide that Item 'X' is worth $75.00 to me, I can bid that on the item. But the site will only show that $10.00 has been bid. If someone else bids $20.00, the site tells them they've been outbid, and shows a $21.00 bid of your money. This "add $1.00 to the bid" continues until the other bidder quits, or until they go over your limit.

In other words, just because you bid $75.00 doesn't mean you'll pay that to get the item; others may not bid that high.

Now, if you're looking for my Sentinel DVDs, the direct links are - Set 1,   Set 2,   Set 3,   Set 4,   Set 5,   Set 6.   Pictures and fuller description are here.

The other items I'm offering are -

TS package of Verbatim magazine and Fan Odyssey T-shirt. Pictures and fuller description are here and here.

Star Trek package of 12 James Blish compilations, plus Next Generation Companion. Pictures and fuller description are here and here.

Highlander package of "Complete Watcher's Guide" plus professional photos of the characters. Pictures and fuller description are linked in this post.

Highlander package of two Duncan posters. Pictures and fuller description are linked in this post.

Dr. Who package of "Shape Shifter" comic plus set of 18 miscellaneous pictures and 14 miscellaneous postcards. Pictures and fuller description are linked in this post.

Dr. Who package of "Time Traveler's Guide" plus set of 18 miscellaneous pictures and 14 miscellaneous postcards. Pictures and fuller description are linked in this post.

Beauty and the Beast package; two graphic comics and five ordinary comics, 4 stories in total. Pictures and fuller description are here and here.

Superman package, "The Man of Steel" -- one story in six comics. Pictures and fuller description are here.

"Xanth" board game, based on the novels by Piers Anthony. Pictures and fuller description are here.

Pro photo of Paul Gross as Benton Frasier from "Due South". Pictures and fuller description are here.

And that's all I have. But there are many more wonderful items in a number of fandoms. Check them out, and remember -- none of us are getting a percentage. ALL of the proceeds go to Moonridge. On "Sentinel Day" (I think it's June 20th, this year), someone will present Garett with a fancy 'check' for the amount that's been donated. I have pictures and reports of Sentinel Days I've attended. If you're interested, they're below.

When I moved last year, I found a lot of fandom memorabilia that no longer interests me. But for a fan who loves Dr. Who, this is a bunch of pictures and postcards that probably aren't available anymore. I don't know whether the comic and book are rare or common, but they are very nice. Pictures at the links.

I met [livejournal.com profile] chelletoo at Moonridge; unfortunately, I don't seem to have taken a picture with her in it. But she took pictures -- lots and lots of pictures -- over 400 of them. She's loaded them in PhotoBucket, and graciously allowed me to share the link with all of you.

They're in here.

If you'd like to thank her personally, head on over to her post.

:::sigh::: Good news, bad news. My plane leaving Dallas for Midland is already an hour and twenty minutes late, which gave me time to finish this report. (I got a lot of it done on the three-hour flight from LA.) But it's pouring rain. We're scheduled to take off in ten minutes, but since we haven't even started boarding yet, I find that doubtful. If I get to an internet connection tonight, I'll load this report.

Whoops! My flight now leaves at 6:30 (downgraded from 3:50. :::deep sigh:::) So, I expect I'll stay at the airport hotel in Midland tonight -- if I ever get there -- and I'll be able to upload this then.

ETA: And now scheduled departure is 9:05 -- maybe. Sure hope I don't have to spend the night here.

Ah well, you don't want to know about my troubles; you want to hear about Garett. So, picking up right from where I left off... Onward and upward. )

I'm sitting on the patio with a bunch of senfen; we're drinking various alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and sharing stories. So far we've covered foods of various countries, money ditto, Moonridge and Garett, and now we're on language and grammar. You expect me to write a report?

But I can format and upload a few pictures to tide you over till later. Enjoy.

...more or less, and depending on how you count.

It occurs to me that folks new to my journal, or to TS fandom, may not know that I have Moonridge reports from past years, written by myself and by other people, as well as a bunch of picture posts. There are also some con reports, again written by other people as well as me. If 'x' said I could share, that's exactly what I did.

So, if you'd like to take a little trip back in time, to read about the goodness that is Garett Maggart and Richard Burgi (and some others), follow the yellow brick links.

I was re-reading my own reports last night and, OMG! I didn't respond to any of the comments from last year! I deeply appreciate everyone who left a comment, and I'm ashamed not to have answered you all -- but things were hectic, and I was busy. But still, my apologies to all of you; I need to work on being a little less scatterbrained.

And now, report-linkys...

I really should have put this behind a cut in the first place. )

It just so happens that -- ahem! -- I'm donating a story this year. I'm "offering to write a Sentinel gen fic, featuring Jim and Blair, based on a prompt or idea suggested by the winner, but staying within my writing parameters. I write 'friendship' or 'slice of life' stories; angst and/or H/C, if requested, will be very mild. The focus of the story will be Jim and Blair, with the other members of MC as needed or requested by the winner; 'the case' part of the story will have much less focus, unless the winner has a specific request. Minimum length 7,000 words, with the possibility of becoming much larger."

Now, two weekends ago, I very unexpectedly came into a DUG T-shirt and scrub shirt. (Thanks to Regina Moore, who passed them on to me.) They were offered as unsigned but, thanks to a dear friend who used her airline points to book my flights --

I'M GOING TO MOONRIDGE AGAIN!!!

And there's absolutely no reason I can't carry the shirts with me and get Garett to sign them. Richard too, if he's there. I can even get them personalized, if the winners want.

So -- DUG shirts, signed and personalized if you want. Have at it --

DUG T-shirt               DUG scrub shirt

Now on a personal note -- I have flights, but haven't booked a room yet. Does anyone need another person to split costs of an already-booked room? Or has anyone not yet booked a room, and would like to go in with me?

I'll be in Big Bear from Thursday afternoon to Monday morning, staying at the Best Western; there's a whole Moonridge contingent there -- Arianna and AndeinCascade and a bunch of our Brit senfen.

I'll also need a room in LA Wednesday night (20th) and Monday night (25th). The Moonridge contingent have already booked some rooms -- I'm not sure which hotel, but I'll update when I know. But again -- does anyone need a roomie?

BTW -- if the hotel allows it, I'm quite happy to but a mattress from a rollaway on the floor; in fact, I prefer it. (Bad back.) So we could fit more in a room, and make the costs smaller per person.

Good morning, fellow Senfen! I'm here in beautiful, sunny Chilliwack, BC, with [livejournal.com profile] caarianna. We both needed some downtime, so yesterday was a quiet day at the computer. So I thought it over -- would my friends want their comments answered, or more pictures. Pictures won, hands down. Here's my Moonridge report -- only 3,500 words in five pages. *g* There are fifteen of us online and Live Journal friends staying together in a big cabin, which means lots of fangirl talking, and vid-watching, good food and laughter. But you don't care about that -- the important part is that so many points of view means there are lots of different anecdotes to share about the day. So some of the "Garett-moments" that I'm reporting aren't ones that I witnessed, but I had the report direct from the person who did experience it. Enjoy.

Look what I found! Last year, Aly gave me this picture as an apology for me having to wait a year for the picture I had bid on the previous year. (Did you follow that?) No apologies needed; life hits us all once in a while. And it's very pretty, but it just doesn't grab me, you know? (OTOH, I drool over the one I chose. I'll get it up one of these days.)

Anyway, it's by Lady Grey; 8 1/2 x 11, in charcoal or pencil. (I'm clueless; I just know it's not paint). Signed by Garett, with his typical peace sign. And it's not as shadowy as it appears here; the light was fading when I took the picture.

So, I'll send the notice to Aly. Have fun bidding.

In cleaning (ha!) my room recently, I found some old Doctor Who magazines -- called "Files" and written by John Peel. Each one is 40 pages of episode analysis, background information, cast information, and pictures. I have Seasons 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, the "First Baker Years" and separate issues that turn the "spotlight" on Tom Baker, Patrick Troughton and Colin Baker.

So -- all you DW fans; are these magazines a big enough part of the show's history to get people to bid for them? If so, is there a sort of 'announcement' comm on LJ, so I can spread the word?

In other words, will these raise money for Moonridge, or will they lie there with a 'thud'? I don't want to offer them unless somebody really wants them. So -- smart or dumb? I'd really appreciate any opinion you care to offer.

I need to write up an official blurb and send it to Aly in a couple of days, but I'll post the pictures now, so folks can plan what to bid on.

It occurs to me that people might like to see some of the animals that their generous donations are helping to support. (Or maybe I just want to show off more of the pictures I took.) So prepare to "ooh" and "ahh" as you look behind the curtain )

*g* Here's something to tickle your funnybone. LKY, in particular, should get a kick out of this. We can call it "Adventures of a Canoeing Neophyte". Or maybe --
