I've been sorta-accidentally pimped into NCIS by my friend [livejournal.com profile] nakeisha's Gibbs/Ducky stories. I needed to see what these guys looked like, and then USA started showing Saturday marathons of the early seasons, and then it kind of grew on me...

(Gotta say, though, I'm really not liking DiNozzo -- he's arrogant and sleazy and full of himself, and his 'teasing' of McGee too often crosses the line into downright cruelty. He may turn me right back off the show, and I'll stick with Nikki's stories.)

Anyway, right now I'm watching the ep where Abby is being stalked by a former boyfriend. She opened the door (thinking it was McGee? -- as usual, I'm not watching closely enough to realize the details) to him, and had to retreat to the bedroom, then to the connecting bathroom. She's frantically looking for a weapon, and finds only the typical bathroom items -- toothbrush, comb, and fingernail clippers. That made me think of my bathroom; that's where I cut up my nightly apple (because the counter is lower), so I keep my honkin' big carving knife in there -- the one with the 9-inch blade. (I measured.)

Unfortunately, being unskilled in knife-use, it probably wouldn't save me. (Although I do know to hold it and try to use it like a rapier, rather than a Psycho-style overhand stab. Maybe I could hurt someone and get away...) Of course, if it showed up in a script or story, it would be rejected as "too convenient" -- but it sure would have changed the direction of the story if Abby had found something similar when she needed it. <g>

Thus ends our random fandom observation of the day.
